In early October I will be spending a day in American Samoa as a stop on a cruise to New Zealand. I will be traveling with my wife and 3 daughters ages 8,6 and 3. I am wondering about recommendations for transportation and accessability of the National Park. Any tips on renting a car? Thanks.
Hi! I would recommend looking up "National Park in American Samoa" on Wikipedia. There is actually some good information about getting into the park on that page. The hike along the ridge to Mt. Alava is nice. Otherwise I might also recommend going over the ridge from Pago Pago to Vatia. It is beautiful out there and offers some great snorkeling and photo opportunities. As for car rentals, most are pretty expensive on island. Avis (699-4408) is the only big-name rental agency that I know of that serves the island. Most of the family-owned businesses are fine. Let me know if you need phone numbers - I can pick some out of my travel guide! | 1
Thanks for the tips. Take care, Tim | 2
