Making an Inter Island Air reservation to Tau

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / American Samoa

Hello

I want to go to Ofu Island via Tau next week - there is no flight directly to Ofu right?

Inter Island Air told me on phone that they are flying every day from Pago Pago
to Tau except Saturday. How reliable is this schedule ?

I will only be able to buy the ticket in Apia at their office two/three days in advance since
they don't offer online reservation.
Enough time in advance or are their flights to Tau really be booked up for weeks?

I'm grateful for any information

Why don't you buy your ticket via telephone?

The first flight to Ta'u departs at 11 every day. There is no flight to Ofu but fishermen transport visitors for a fee. I've heard its 100 bucks, but you might haggle.

I've always just walked up to the counter and paid cash. A lot of times they say the flight is booked. People book, don't pay and then don't show up. Its a little frustrating but I always get on the flight.

If you are a hiker, the walk out to Laufuti Falls is spectacular. Start from Fitiuta where the plane lands. I start from the airport, get to the falls, and camp on the beach at the falls and then walk back the next day. Total adventure.

Thanks a lot both of you, much appreciated.

The lady I spoke to didn't mention any possibility of buying the ticket via phone.
Will try it then tomorrow once more.

The hike(s) in Tau are on my list but first I will try to go to Ofu as soon as possible
and spend some days in Tau on my way back.

Calumet, if you are still in AS: are there any plans of re establishing the flights by December?
thanks
