Accommodation options with young childrenCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Cook Islands
Hi, We are planning to stop over on the Cook Islands to and from New Zealand. We are thinking 4-7 nights on Rarotonga, south side going there, and the 4-7 nights on Aitutauki on the way back. We have two kids under the age of 4, which really limits accommodation options. Can anyone recommend self-catering places to stay that are on the beach and good for wee ones? Our budget is about $175 per night or $1200 per week give or take. I prefer something peaceful... well, as peaceful as possible with two kids! Oh, and away from the mosquitoes. Thanks!
Hi Moremanoi, We stayed on Aitutaki earlier this year. We were very happy with Sunny Beach Lodge, the owner is very friendly, she has family units and they are very clean on a beautiful spot. On Rarotonga we stayed at one of the beach houses of Rarotonga backpackers. They have the bedroom for the kids upstairs so that may not be suitable for you. My boys had a great time at both places. Have a nice time! | 1
Lots of options, check out www.ck . You didn't say when you are traveling. Not many mzzies from June to Sept., most are Nov to Arpil. But you'll be OK on RAR if you don't go inland, that's where most mozzies are. Take an insect repellent anyway. Tons more mozzies on Aitutaki, but not if you are right on the beach. | 2
