| travelingswede08:23 UTC20 Oct 2007 | It seems like Atiu Villas is the most comfortable accomodation on Atiu, but $110 per night (one person) is a little much. What about the other options like Are Manuiri ($60 per night), Taparere Lodge ($65), Kia Orana Bungalows ($80) or Kopeka Lodge ($85)? Are they good? I read somewhere that Marshall Humphreys has a B&B. Does anyone know any details?
Another question: I'm going to Atiu January 2-4. Do I need to prebook accomodation immediately or can I book shortly before arriving?

| papamike02:10 UTC21 Oct 2007 | I would say that Atiu Villas are the most comfortable lodging on Atiu. The restaurant, facilities and rooms are very nice. I have stayed at Are Manuiri and it is also quite comfortable, though no on-site restaurant and rooms are in a three-bedroom home as opposed to a villa to yourself. Kia Orana was under construction my last trip, so I am not familiar with that lodging. I think all lodging is reasonable value, Atiu Villas being the nicest is priced accordingly. If you want something beyond basic it is the choice for Atiu.
Have A Great Trip!

| raro04:32 UTC21 Oct 2007 | I agree with Mike. If you are only going for two nights, I'd spend the extra and stay at Atiu Villas. But Are Manuiri is OK as well, depends on how tight your budget is for two nights.
I would book sooner rather than wait. These are small places, maybe four or five units, so they can fill up.
One main thing is that this is over the holidays, and a lot of Atiuans living overseas will be returning home to visit relatives. Most will stay with relatives, but some may spurge and book into Atiu Villas or the other places.
Your biggest concerns are the flights into and out of Atiu. These may already be full due to those returning Atiuans. If you haven't already booked, you might want to do so ASAP. All domestic flights in the Cooks over the holidays are usually full.

| travelingswede04:52 UTC21 Oct 2007 | Thanks for your help, Papa Mike and Raro. I've gone ahead and made reservations at the Atiu Villas.
As for the flights, I've already booked all my flights. It wasn't easy, but I finally was able to change to the Atiu-Rarotonga flight I wanted, so now I'm all set for the circle route Rarotonga-Aitutaki-Atiu-Rarotonga. If I had tried booking those flight now I wold have been out of luck. Basically all flights to/from Atiu are sold out the last week of December and the first week of January.

| raro06:45 UTC21 Oct 2007 | Glad to hear you got that triangle. It only works a couple of times a week, as the flights between Aitutaki and Atiu are not daily. Say hi to Roger and Kura at Atiu Villas (from Elliot)!!
