Air NZ to code share for Aitutaki

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Cook Islands

The following comes from the Cook Islands Tuatua Tika:

"Air NZ to code share for Aitutaki. Air New Zealand and Air Rarotonga yesterday agreed on a code-sharing agreement for Aitutaki. Aitutaki now an Air NZ code-share destination. The joint schedules between Rarotonga and Aitutaki starting in May. Air New Zealand executive Norman Thomson said it was an exciting development for Cook Islands tourism. He said: ' This new code-share service will provide more choice for our customers and make selling the beautiful atoll of Aitutaki seamless for Air New Zealand and travel agents around the world.'
The code-share will apply to all four daily flights to Aitutaki to provide good connections to and from Air New Zealand's Auckland and Los Angeles services. Air Rarotonga managing director Ewan Smith said the agreement was a huge step forward for Aitutaki and Air Rarotonga. - April 5 2007"

This should make things easier for people to arrange flights to Aitutaki I would think.

Good idea I think. There's definite possibility for expansion of air services in the Cooks and is going to make Aitutaki more accessible.
