Air Rarotonga Island Hopper Pass?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Cook Islands

We are working on a 2 week trip in June 1011 to the Cook Islands from San Diego. I would like to spend a week in Aitutaki, 3 nights Atiu and 2 nights Rarotonga. I've heard of a island hopper air pass on Air Rarotonga but can't find any information about booking it. Is it available?
Also is it better to book all the air travel, including inter island, through the airlines or a local Cook Island company?
I appreciate any thoughts or ideas, thanks.

Hi there,

For info regarding the island hopper pass contact either Air Raro direct, or Island Hopper Vacations for airfares and accommodation pricing - www.airrarotonga,com - www.islandhoppervacations.com

Cook Islanders themselves really are the experts when it comes to their islands. They have contacts and concessions that can't be matched by global agents. Cheers - kia manuia,

Thanks so much for the quick reply, I'll contact them. How far in advance do you recommend booking air and accommodations for June 11 travel?

I suggest you obtain quotes now to provide a guideline as to what to expect & to support your budget. The very best deals are released up to one week prior to date of travel!!!. But bear in mind that if you hold off you also run the risk of not securing seats for the times you want to fly. Also, your first choice of accommodation may alredy be full, depending on which accommodation property. I can tell you now that if you are considering Etu Moana on Aitutaki, dont leve it even until the end of November to book. June 2011 is early winter-time in the Cook Islands, and nowadays there is much demand for travel to Raro ahead of the NZ school holidays which take place mid July next year. The increased flights from NZ, and the soon to be regular direct flight from Sydney is seeing more visitors discover the magic of our destination. BTW, although Air NZ has the weekly direct LAX - RAR flight, another option is to fly into Papeete and take the Air Raro/Tahiti Nui flight into Raro. Happy planning.

Thank you so much for the kind advice. I will get right on it this weekend starting with
Island Hopper and Air Raro.
