Aitutaki Lagoon Resort transport

Hi,
I was told that the transport from the airport to the Aitutaki Lagoon resort is $55, which is a lot. I assume this is per person.
Does anyone know how much the boat over to the resort island costs and how we can get from the airport to this boat ourselves?

Looks like it is a compulsory fee at $55 per person. So no way to avoid it.
