cheap hostels in atitutaki ?? and nice things to to in Cooks??

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Cook Islands

Hi, I will be in Cooks beginning of January for 8 days and I also will stay in Atitutaki. Is there a cheap hostel or homestay possibility. Up to now I found not realy a selection to choose.

If you have some tips or some have to see or to do please let me also now!

Thanks in advance.

kia orana,
regarding aitutaki: things to do: the lagoon ist just stunning there.... i would reccommend a tour with a small operator like wet & wild. (you might find some other guest to share his boat :-)) he is a great guy and will do what you want !! fishing, waterski, snorkel, island... doesn't matter..

Not a lot of budget options on Aitutaki, but Toms Beach Cottages has room for around NZ$30.00 for singles. It's on the beach, but you will need to wade out a bit to get to swimming depth. Near several stores and an Internet Cafe. Nice family run place, a bit worn but a pretty good bargain for Aitutaki. Try also Paratroopers Motel, not sure if they are still around, behind store in same general area, ask at stores for location. As already mentioned, lagoon cruises are the main attraction. Short walk from Toms is Rhino's where you cant rent a scooter and discover the hidden areas of the island. Get a license in village for scooter at police station. Have a nice trip.
