| bunnymadden00:22 UTC22 Jun 2007 | Am thinking about hitting up cook islanda on my way to NZ in January 2008. I'm looking for your suggestions and advice on where to go...and where not to go....Does anyone have advice on air tavel From Toronto (CANADA) to New Zealand (christchurch) via the Cook Islands?
Who: female travellers in their early 20's What: looking for a beach holiday in an inexpensive and clean accodomation very close or on a beach on one of the islands in around New Zealand (thinking about the cook islands). While we like to have a good time we have no interest in being surrounded by lots of crowds or beer guzzler-types, you know? Looking for something quiet but also close enough to a place with a few local cafes or small bars when: January 2008 why: looking to relax, check out see some cool flora and fauna, stroll (walk) and read how: air travel
thanks!!!!!!

There are several backpacker places, but probably best to avoid the popular Vara's if you don't want to risk the beer-guzzler types. Aremango, Papa Raus's are good, Aquarius as well, but not near a beach. Check www.ck for info, as well as the FAQ at the beginning of this branch.

There are direct flights from LA and also I think Vancouver now - both with Air New Zealand.
I was a mid-20's female traveller and stayed at Vara's in March this year and loved it. There were a few beer-guzzlers but not many, thankfully. It's right on the best beach on the island, rent's kayaks and snorkel gear, has a cafe, pharmacy, local store and bus stop at the end of the drive.
They meet all flights, the place was clean with a good range of rooms from dorms to studios. I found the Cooks very peaceful and laid-back.
Vara's
