Desperate for Rarotonga Accommodation

Hi, I am going to be in Raro for 7 nights from March 28, 2008. However I am unable to find suitable self catering accommodation for two persons. My budget is NZ$125. Any suggestions? I have written to about 1/2 dozen places but only one replied as full. Is it too difficult? Please help! Thanks

Have you tried rentraro.com? I rented a bungalow from them last year and it was good. They seem to have a lot on their books at all different prices.

Thanks to Papa MIke and dizzydi. Can you or someone else also tell me how would you rate Club Raro for location, standard and facilities. I was hoping to book one of their self catering Studio's. Cheers

Some people like Club Raro, but I would never recommend it to anyone. No real beach or swimming, even though it's "beachfront". Rooms are tiny and/or overpriced.

you can do better at 25 other places. If you don't need to be on a beach, try Paradise Inn, in town.

I concur with Raro, Paradise Inn would be a good choice. While I am not quite as negative on Club Raro, it certainly would not head my list of options.

I had the Central Motel and KiiKii Motel recommended by a local for overnight in Raro. Any comment from the group on these?

Central Motel is in Avarua and not to far from the Airport. Pretty basic, away from the water. KiiKii is a bit out of town and further from the airport, on the water and a step above Central Motel. I would suggest Aquarius, which is directly across from the airport, has a restaurant and nice pool and is on the water. My other suggestion would be Tiare Village which also has a pool, is near the airport but a bit inland from the water. All four suggestions are in roughly the same price range, on the budget end.
