Fiji or cook islands?Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Cook Islands
Hi Guys, I'm in Australia and I'm planning to spend a week in a beautiful place on the seaside. I was thinking to go either to Fiji or Cook Islands. What do you suggest??? I'm flying next week and I'm in honeymoon. thanks a lot in advance
Kia Orana Anna, The Cook Islands undoubtedly! The scenery, the culture, our clean and sfe environement and welcoming people provide for a wonderful honeymoon destination. Besides, our Rarotonga beaches are beautiful. On Fiji, you need to go to the offshore islands to enjoy the best beaches. There is a direct flight from Sydney to Rarotonga once week. Otherwise daily flights via Auckland into Raro return. Once week direct LAX departure on a Saturday night. Nice resorts for a honeymoon include Little Polynesian, Royal Takitumu, Moana Sands hotel and their Vaima apartments, Heliconia, Sea Change Villas, Palm Grove Lodges, The Sanctuary on Rarotonga, Aroa Beachside Inn, Sunhaven, Magic Reef, Manuia Beach, Crown Beach, Edgewater, Cooks Oasis, Sunset Resort, Muri BeachClub, Pacific Resort, Muri Beach Hideaway, Te Vakaroa, Te Manava, Rumours/Reflections on Rarotonga. Take the daytour to Aitutaki island to experience the most idyllic island scenery and cruise the magnificent lagoon - wwww.airrarotonga.com. Or stay two nights at Etu Moana (if there's a vacancy), Pacific Resort or Tamanu Beach. Enjoy your honeymoon travels. | 1
I just came back from the cooks (will write a quite report too). I loved it. Can't put into words how much I loved the place and the beauty of it. It kept me entertained enough if I wanted to snorkle and swim or if I wanted to lie by a beach and read. | 2
I personally prefer Fiji... Although you have to go off shore for good beaches, when you get there they are amazing. Plus you can hop between islands quite easily. The snorkelling up in the Yasawas is amazing - particularly at octopus resort (although there are much more romantic resorts than this). I think Fiji is a lot more set up for honeymooners because the resorts are more up market. We got a bit claustrophobic on Rarotonga because we weren't there long enough to visit the other islands. Heard that aiutaki is a lot better for honeymooners though! | 3
I've been to both groups of islands and I would go back to both in a heartbeat. I didn't get to the outer islands in Fiji (just Plantation Island) so I can't really comment on that, but the Aitutaki lagoon has got to be the most stunning beach I've every seen. And I've been to Barbados, Jamaica and all of the Hawaiian islands. I checked out some of the luxe resorts Turou mentions and they really looked gorgeous and romantic. Fiji - gotta say that I really loved the variation of food better. Cooks got a bit repetitive, whereas there was a lot of amazing Indian flavours in Fiji. Enjoy! | 4
