im going to the cook islands for 4 weeks in april. we are looking at going to Aitutaki for a week and have been looking at the flights. we are very flexible with our dates but the prices seem to start at $300NZ each return with about half the flights booked out. i was wondering if it is ok to leave it till we are on rarotonga till we organise this trip or will the flights a) be sold out b) increase in price?? any help would be much appriciated kathryn
Hi, Ka kite, | 1 | |
There are four flights a day to Aitutaki, so it is the one island that is quite easy to get to and back. I would definitely wait until you arrive to make reservations, especially with the flexibility of four weeks. I would also suggest you contact the lodging by phone from Rarotonga, as there is a bit of oversupply on Aitutaki and prices are negotiable. Papa Mike Edited by: PapaMike | 2
Not sure if this special is still available, but: if you leave RAR on the late afternoon flight to Aitutaki (the one going to pick up those on a day tour) it was a 10-15% discount. Likewise, on the day you leave Aitutaki, if you leave on the first flight back to RAR---the one that just dropped off the day-tour people---that was also discounted in that direction. So, e-mail Air Raro and ask for any specials that may be in effect for when you'll be there. As you have a lot of time, you could save a bit by going on a discounted flight, event hough it may not be good for those just visiting for a few days. Raro | 3
I booked flights today for NZ$238 return. Thought it was a bargain really. As Raro said the last flight of the day always seemed cheapest. | 4
Thanks to tuna88, got return flights Raro to Ait for $200 return. | 5
