Much better than I expected

Aitutaki Photos

Maybe I am a snob. Perhaps I had low expectations because of the relatively low exposure of the cook islands in Australia, but I just had the perfect time in Aitutaki. Even in the midst of a 'fuel crisis' with the main supply boat being many days late, the whole trip was so smooth, so relaxing and so so much better than I had imagined.

I don't wish to burden prospective tourists with high expectations but my partner and I throughly enjoyed our perfect trip and recommend highly to perhaps some of the more 'jaded' travellers out there for a quite, oh so beautiful break from the hustle and bustle of many other destinations.

The Cooks have one of the better infrasturcures in tourism in the South Pacific. That said, it's always best to expect the lower end of things like service, etc., and then you are pleasantly surprised when things do go well. All in all, the Cooks are a good place to visit, with not many bad surprises for most visitors.

Hi there,

I looked at your photos oh my god they are amazing!
where did you stay?
We are planning a week in the south pacific as part of our honeymoon and I am really stuck as where to go?
no way can we afford Tahiti so I am now looking at fiji and the cook islands. We do not want to spend more than £200 a night (is this viable) and would be happy with just a beautiful white beach to wake up too, good snorkelling and some fresh fish each day, perfect! We stayed on one of the Maldives islands for my birthday in february, I am worried that we have set our standards too high and cant afford the south pacific prices!
we are stopping over on our way from America to Australia so south pacific seems perfect.

Please help! x

Hey Snugglebum. We specifically stayed on Aitutaki. We organized it through a NZ travel agent ( I found off the web) and so all costs stayed in NZD. Aitutaki definitely has accommodation for 200 pounds/night

WAAAA- they are beautiful and I want to go back to the islands- any of them. I especially loved the sudden switch from tropics to snow. Lovely lovely pictures. Thanks.
