Private accomodation on AITUTAKI

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Cook Islands

Hello!

We (2 adults and our baby) will go to the Cook Islands for 4 weeks and also would like to stay on Aitutaki for 10-14 days.

Does anyone know a private place to rent?Room, small bungalow etc.
Not to expensive (max 80 NZ$/night)
We would love to use a fridge and kitchen and really need rooms which are protected from mosquitos and have a fan.

And we heard the beach around Pacific Resort - Aitutaki Beach Villas - Etu Moana should be one of the best there.

Thank you very much for your help!

Matriki Beach Huts is probably your only choice given your budget and in the spot you want. $89

You might get a garden unit at Paradise Cove for around $100-120 if you stay there for all 10 days. In my experience the private units are a little more pricey than the more well-known clustered ones.

You could also have a look at Sunny Beach Lodge, their bungalows may be out of your budget but the studio units may work price wise(ask if they have discounts for longer stays). They are self catering units located on the beach, a short walk to the Pacific Resort. There are lots of reviews on TA that may be helpful.

Start out by booking 2 - 3 nights in accommodation while you search for somewhere suitable. Matriki has a garden unit that isn't as popular as the beachfront huts, so this may be one option.

Otherwise try Tom's which is on Amuri beach (south of Pacific Resort). The bigger/older unit has everything you need for a longer term stay, and with space for a family compared to their beachfront studio. Village store across the road.

Thank you all very much for your help!

I have already contacted the first places. Matriki does not accomodate children under 5 years.

You are going to have difficulty finding a suitable place with your requirements and budget. Here is a link with most of the places available on Aitutaki: http://aitutaki-accommodations.com/Aitutaki_Accommodation.html

The e-mail for Tom's Beach Cottage is papatoms@aitutaki.net.ck

Another place that has come to mind is Ranganui's Retreat http://ranginuisretreat.com/Index.html
They are away until March so you may not hear back from them until then.
