Query on Raratonga Backpackers.

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Cook Islands

Hi,

Another question if i may. Myself and my Girlfriend will be staying at Raratongas Backpackers. They have booked us in for a (They said a SMALL private doule room beach front resort) the small scares mr a little has anyone stayed here? its $45 NZ a night dollars they did not ask for a depost either but they have have have confirmed our bookings we also have booked in for 2 weeks in one of there Private beach units for $72 NZ a night. Can anyone who has stayed here confirm if its good value? is it clean? noisey? is there a better place to stay. Any information on the place would be great. We are a youngish couple 30 and 29 and like to socialise and have fun but not every night of the week. Is the place a bit of a party resort like Varas or is it a mixture of tranquillo and Fun.

Any help at all

Thanks a mil

Joe.

I'll attempt to address what I know, there may be others that have more specific information for you. Rarotonga Backpackers are a respected budget accomodation in Rarotonga. I have visited their lodging and have reviewed it favorably in my book. Their beachfront units are relatively new and I have no information on them. Is there a better place to stay? That certainly is a wide open question. I'm sure it can be quiet or noisy depending on the clientele at any given time. I think it is O.K. if I knew more about your likes and dislikes, I might have suggestions. If you would like to private message me, with more info, I may have suggestions. I'm sure you will enjoy your stay, Rarotonga and the Cooks are agreat spot.

Thanks again Papa for your quick reply. I think we are going to just go with Rara backpackers and see what happens and if its not what we are looking for im sure we can always rent a bike and check around the other budget places to stay. Any other help from anyone who has stayed here please fill us in.

Regards

Joe and Ais.

Anything under NZ$100 and even near a beach is a good deal on RAR. I would not worry about how big the room is, you will be spending most of your time outside it except overnight.
