rental houses on Muri Beach

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Cook Islands

Hi,

We're considering renting a house on Muri Beach. There's not a lot of options otherwise with children. I was wondering if anyone has had recent experience renting with one of the realty companies or websites (rarorealty, for example). I've read mixed reviews of private home rentals in the past... people not getting the house requested or homes not being properly screened etc.

Are homes that are listed as "close to the beach" really that close, and easily accessible by public transportation?

Has anyone stayed in a 2 bedroom home they could recommend?

Our price range is about $200 a night give or take for 4 nights.

Many thanks

Close to the beach would be within easy walking distance. Many times they list how many metres walk it is . often you can guage by the photos. (hilly terrain = far from beach). email me your picks and i will tell you what i know about them or their neighborhood- i've been going to the cooks since '83.

Yes, clsoe to the beach means usually a five to ten-minute walk. But be aware that there are a few rental houses up the hill opposite Muri Beach, and it can be atrek when you head home. Not bad, but it depends on what you want.

Rental houses around Muri Beach are usually OK. The ones on the west side of the island ---Arorangi---are often targeted by local petty thieves. In any event, always lock up a rental house if you go snorkeling, out to dinner, etc.

Try Kings beach Villas. Right on the beach.
