| raro05:50 UTC09 Jul 2007 | Hi Janice--- Yes, it was time to do other things! Shangri-La is still a good place, and same great location, but now they take kids, so it may be a bit of a different ambience. Still great rates, from what they have posted. It's Muri Beach Resort now. And, they took my house and made a couple of rental apts. out of it, so a great location for those units, as you know.
Other places to check are Gwen Welland's Muri Beach cottages (the "studio" is very cheap), or Tiana's bungalows, the oldest one is a bit cheaper than the others. Muri Beach Hideaway is nice, but a bit more $$$. You can check with Sokala Villas, it's the nicest place on Muri Beach, but more $$$. Maybe Lawrance can give you a deal as a former loyal shangri-La guest (ask, it won;t hurt!).
You might also want to venture over to Atiu if you want a little adventure, and don;t need a swimming beach for a few days. The Atiu Motel/Villas has hot water.
Have fun! Raro
