Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Cook Islands

OMG,
My worst fear, I finally get it together to head back to Raro and Shangri-La has been sold?
I'm set for Rino's on aitu, but where on earth will I lay my head to rest while on Raro...any help, recs. for lodging most whole heartedly welcomed!!!!
Looking for a safe, quiet place on the beach...I can rent a small guesthouse~just need something safe and homey.
Thanks,
Carib

Its true.

Go back thru old postings - we went through collective sighing a while ago.

Hi Janice---
Yes, it was time to do other things!
Shangri-La is still a good place, and same great location, but now they take kids, so it may be a bit of a different ambience. Still great rates, from what they have posted. It's Muri Beach Resort now. And, they took my house and made a couple of rental apts. out of it, so a great location for those units, as you know.

Other places to check are Gwen Welland's Muri Beach cottages (the "studio" is very cheap), or Tiana's bungalows, the oldest one is a bit cheaper than the others. Muri Beach Hideaway is nice, but a bit more $$$. You can check with Sokala Villas, it's the nicest place on Muri Beach, but more $$$. Maybe Lawrance can give you a deal as a former loyal shangri-La guest (ask, it won;t hurt!).

You might also want to venture over to Atiu if you want a little adventure, and don;t need a swimming beach for a few days. The Atiu Motel/Villas has hot water.

Have fun!
Raro

Oh,
How I shall miss you!!!
Are you going back to CA?
I was all set to bring you coffee and those little cigar thingies;-)
Hope this finds you happy and healthy.
Be well my friend,
Janice
BTW,
I was thinking of stopping on Atiu and Rino's on Aitu
