Self Catering Accom

hi CI locals and experienced travellers: Can anyone recommend decent-priced self catering accom (only require for one single person), that is right on Muri Beach? Thank you in advance :)

Check out the websites www.ck and www.tripadvisor.com . A lot depends on your nightly budget. What is "decent-priced" to you?

You won't find a self-contained unit right on Muri Beach for NZ$50. Lowest would be about NZ$120 or so, at Vara's or Aroko.

Ok, cool. Thanks heaps. I know the locations of Vara's - where is Aroko is relation to Vara's in terms of location?

Aroko is actually on Muri Lagoon, but not Muri "Beach". It's a km north of the main part of Muri Beach. It's a bit rocky on the lagoon shore once you get north past Kura's Kabana's/Sokala. So it's on the lagoon, but you need to walk about 5 min. south to get to a nice beach.

Aroko's units are very close together. If you stay there try to get one of the lagoon-front ones. The units are very small, so the ones behind the front ones get a bit claustrophobic as there's no view, except of the back end of the ones a few feet in front or to the side of you.

Raro tends to shy away from self-promotion (it's an endearing trait!). He runs the Shangri-La Resort - right on Muri Beach. Go online and check it out. I've visited the place and can tell you that it's great. Best snorkeling location - on Muri Beach - and the units are air conditioned. Really awesome pool, too. You'll want to look into it.

I stayed at the Muri Beach Hideaway. It was wonderful, but more expensive and didn't have a/c.
