Taxis

Hi,

We are flying into Rarotonga on Friday afternoon and are wondering if there are lots of taxis available from the airport or whether we should arrange transfers with our hotel instead? We are staying at the Rarotongan. We would like to avoid catching the bus. How much should the taxi (if available) cost us?

There are usually a couple of taxis outside when flights arrive, although the driver when we arrived seemed slightly annoyed that she had to drive us somewhere. We were staying just round the corner at sunset resort and I think we were charged $10 each. This was much cheaper than the air nz holidays transfer ($25 each) and a bit cheaper than our hotels's transfer ($15 each).

Having said that, it was about 5 mins down the road so a total waste of money. Better to get the bus or hire your car from the airport (when we were there they were giving out temporary driving licences so you could drive to the police station the next day).
