Volunteering/accommodation in Rarotonga

A group of three of us are going to be in Rarotonga for 2 weeks from 24 Aug to 8 Sep 2007. Before that we will have spent time in NZ "wwoofing", where we will work for a few hours a day on farms in return for accommodation and sometimes food. As organised accommodation seems to be quite expensive in Rarotonga we were wondering if anyone knows of a similar scheme on Rarotonga itself or the out islands, or of alternative places to stay not advertised through the usual methods.

We would be willing to do any sort of work (within reason) and obviously would be happy to make a contribution to our keep as well. Any suggestions are welcome!

You must be confused by the currency exchange. Dorm rooms at Vara's are NZD 25 per night or less than 10 British pounds.

Yes, sorry should have said Vara's is our current plan. We're just trying to make sure we explore all possibilities.

Rarotonga Backpackers dorms are 16 NZD which is less than 6 British pounds per night.
