What do you wish you had brought?Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Cook Islands
Hello! I'm headed to Raro/Aitutaki for a two-week break. For those of you who have been and returned, what were some things you really wish you had brought (or things that were not readily available)? It can be the most mundane (a rainjacket? Sweatshirt?) or the most elaborate (solar-powered charger for iPad?) Thank you very much! Cb.
bug dope... mozzies aren't a severe problem but they can be a nusance at night when you're at an island night or eating out I carry a light rain jacket but if you wear light synthetic clothing you'll dry off quickly without it. | 1
Thank you, H2ooh! | 2 | |
If you are out walking after dark on Aitutaki you will need a flashlight/torch as there aren't that many street lights. Some anti-itch cream like cortisone would be helpful for bites. If you are here during the southern winter months, a light jacket is good. Sunglasses and a hat. | 3
A light rainjacket is a must in the present breezy weather. Some light showers so far, with heavier rain over the next few days. | 4
Definitely a flashlight, even for Rarotonga. It can be VERY dark walking back on the road or beach at night. | 5
Ditto on the flashlight and/or headlamp. I carry both and have a waterproof headlamp for night snorkeling. | 6
