1-night stay in Nadi

Hey,

What do you reccomend for just one-night stopover in Nadi? What good location/cheap Hostel/Hotel do you reccomend not so far from the airport? Also, what´s a good option of restaurant to try fijean food? Tks

capricorn (whats-it-called) guesthouse?? is the best and friendliest of a big line of hostels by the beach side

We enjoyed Nomads----free pickup from airport, nice pool and gardens, quiet, bar and restaurant, fruit stall up the road. You can get dorms to private rooms with aircon and ensuite.

A 1 night stay in Nadi is kind of a waste, there isn't much to do and the cheap places are too far out of town to walk. I stayed at Aquarius, which was just fine...there are several hostels all right next to eachother (smugglers cove, newtown beach, etc) so you can theoretically just show up and check them out yourself. The taxis have colluded to charge $10 (in early 2008) to and from no matter the fact that it is a short drive. They are all on the beach which is Ok, but not really made for swimming.

Each hostel in that area has a small restaurant to try local food, in Nadi town there are more options (including delicious Indian) but that is a taxi ride away.

The raffles hotel across the street from the airport is very nice but NOT cheap by any measure, they do have a very nice breakfast however.

Autually Raffles CAN be cheap if you go about it the right way.

Keep well away from Kastri Holiday Apartments, near McDonalds. Be afraid, be very afraid.

I stayed at Nomads last night and it was ok but a little dirty. Also their airport transfer is only at set times. A taxi only costs $6F anyway.
