Hi All :) Day 2-10: I wanna get out on the islands, Manta Ray Island Resort, Blue Lagoon Resort, Octopus Island Resort, and maybe 1 night on Beachcomber or Bounty island.??? (its hard to say because there's so much info out there) I usually turn up and talk with other backpackers, but also dont want miss out on accomodation if its fully booked, i dont really want to be rushing around to many resorts either? im pretty sure ill get the bula pass But with or without accomodation? and think ill need more than the 7days pass proberly 8 day?*** Whats the local beer worth? helps with planning my budget...... Thank you in advance for all replys Edited by: snoopy82
most of the places dont book out due to the tourist numbers being down seeing that the the Military Coup is still on and the GFC has kept numbers generally down, other than Octopus which is popular and the small dorm fills quick most of the time, the bula pass with the accm with save you a few bucks from memory and seeing you have the early day departure you may like to consider going all the way North first then winding your way back down or vice versa. some Mamanuca islands can swing a early morning island departure x the island to the airport for you but it costs so best returning the late arvo the day before. enjoy! | 1
Beer is typically between F$4 and F$5. Blue Lagoon & Octopus attract a more mature crowd and are not really party places. They are great choices. Manta Ray has more of a party atmosphere, a so-so beach, and good snorkeling. There are nicer beaches on the opposite side of the island, and there's nobody at them. Beachcomber is the best option if you're looking to get pissed. I'd generally recommend spending 2 or 3 nights at an island. 1 night is rushed, and more than 3 can get dull. As these places are among the most popular resorts, I would recommend reserving them - Octopus & Manta Ray dorms filled up every night I was at them. | 2
Bula pass is best - see http://www.awesomefiji.com/ | 3
