2 days, 2 nights - Worth going to Coral Coast (from nadi)

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

I am getting off the boat on the 27th Dec from 4 days at blue lagoon so should be arriving back at denarau port at 5.30-6pm.
I have a flight out of nadi on the 30th dec at 9am.

I dont have any desire to stay in nadi from what I have read other than having to stay there before we goto blue lagoon and on the 29th in order to catch our flight early in the morning.

My question is....is it worth going down to coral coast on the 27th (If i miss the last bus how much would a taxi be) and staying until the evening of the 29th and coming back to nadi. I am aware the bus takes about 2 hours.

Can i get the same experience somewhere closer in a little less of a rush?

We dont want to party anywhere, maybe a couple of drinks as most and want to kick around and see some different things such as shops/waterfalls/town.

Thanks

I'd just stay in Nadi and take day trips. It makes a better base for exploring, and you'll probably miss the last bus on the 27th anyway. A few companies offer reasonably priced day trips from Nadi to Sigatoka, Natadola beach, waterfalls, etc. On the Coral Coast you're relatively isolated so your options for exploring are more limited.

1

Have a look at First Landing Resort. It's only a short taxi ride or transfer from Nadi on the way to Lautoka. Much closer than the Coral Coast resorts.

2

Bula! the Yasawa Flyers arrives in Port Denarau at 6:00pm and by the time you collect you bags etc you will not have time to get to the Nadi Bus Station to catch the public bus going to the Coral Coast, it leaves at 6:50pm.

and I have experience to say after a long day to get back to the mainland by boat the last thing you would want to do is catch a bus to the Coral Coast

the only other option would be a taxi or private transfer. bust in saying this depending on where you are staying you will still not arrive until late in the evening.

the next day - 28th December you would have the the day to explore the Coral Coast but the Water Fall tour is a half day and all the other tours are about the same

Your flight on the 29th December leaves early so you would have to be up and on the road by 4:00am to make it to the Nadi Airport

Because you only have a day... you could do it...private transfer to the Coral Coast, Private tour to the Water Fall and Sigatoka Markets then private transfer back to Nadi...but it all costs

you would be better of staying around Nadi...there are some great accommodation options and on the 28th taking a Nadi Half Day tour

this way you are not rushed

I would recommend looking at the Terraces Apartments in Denarau - because you are not travelling until December you should be able to secure a great deal on them.

They are walking distance (less than 2mins) to where you catch the Yasawa Flyer and when you get back to port on the 27th you can then relax at Port Denarau at a selection of resturants and bars...also there is a supermarket there as well if you prefer to cook your own meals in the apartment.

hope this helps in some way to make your Fiji holiday a trip to remember for a lifetime.

thanks all for your options,
nztourist i am flying early on the 30th so I could leave anywhere back to nadi in the afternoon/evening.
Doing a day trip sounds like it might as well just be worth trying to get there on the 27th after the boat.
Any rough prices for a taxi from the port to coral coast? We would book our accom for the 2 nights before we arrive.

re leaving on the 30th at 9:00am
you need to be at the airport at least 1.5hrs before you flight leave so you need to be at the airport by at least 7:30am then depending on where you are staying on the Coral Coast it can be anyway from 1.5 to 2hrs drive to get to the airport. Keep these times in mind when you pick your Coral Coast accommodation and your departure time.

The cost of the transfer to the Coral Coast by taxi is a tricky one to predict because it will depend where you are staying...accommodation is spread out along the coast but allow anywhere from FJD$130.00 to FJS$180.00 one way BUT what ever you do make sure you negotiate a price for the journey before you get into the taxi.

Easier to get your transfers (down and back) all set with a private transfer company before your get to Fiji - maybe FJD$10.00+ more expensive but you will have peace of mind that the transfer/s are in place and you won't have to walk off the boat with all the other people and secure a taxi.

things to do on the Coral Coast

there are lots of things to see and do...just depends on what you are into - culture, water sports or sightseeing etc
