2 weeks in fiji

My boyfriend and I arrive in Fiji at the beginning of March where we will be spending 2 weeks. We are looking for a beautiful place/s to stay, preferably involving some local culture rather than the usual touristy-type resort. We are backpackers and so are on a pretty tight budget. Any ideas?

Both Ovalau and Taveuni would be good choices, with great scenery, good snorkelling, lots of Fijian villiages and cheap accomodation.

Oarsmans Resort in the Yasawas is run by the local fijians and has good contacts with the village. The place itself is lovely and has a cheap dorm for backpackers.

Yes, Levuka followed by a few days at Caqelai is a good choice.
