3 or 4 days in Fiji??

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Hello all, I'm flying in to Suva for a work trip in early November and cant miss the opportunity to see some of Fiji while I'm there.

I'll be flying in and out of Suva and want to take 3 or 4 days off before I go back to sunny England.

Basically, is there any advice on a very short itinerary leaving from Suva going to the other islands and seeing some of the Fiji I see on the photos!?

I'll be alone and looking for cheap(ish) accommodation, but for something amazing I'm happy to pay.

I'd love to snorkel, surf, swim and see wildlife.

Any suggestions??

you could do day trip up the Navua River, easily from Suva, there is also an Upper Navua River rafting for the more adventurous. Leleuvia is a small island good for a couple of days, they have dorm accommodation. and its possible to visit Ovalau from there, If you are in suva for the weekends, you could do a bus trip around the island

Google "Rivers Fiji".
There are no decent beaches near Suva. You need to go to the Yasawas for those.

Cheers,
Peter

yes Suva beaches are not the best, but if you go to the yacht club you will find people who will take you out to the reef to surf, and for a beach close by, Leleuvia is hard to beat, http://www.leleuvia.com/

Thanks for those suggestions,

I pretty much want to get away from Suva or the main island for the weekend to somewhere that I can stay on a beach with some activities before flying back.

I'll be leaving Suva on Friday afternoon then need to be back late on Monday. Leleuvia seems like a good option and relatively easy to access from Suva, are there any other similar options? I've seen places like Blue Lagoon in Yasawa but not sure how to get there from Suva?

Thanks

To get to the Yasawas for a weekend from Suva would be expensive, it's quite a distance so you would have to fly to Nadi and maybe even fly to the Yasawas if the boats don't give you enough time.
I stayed at Leleuvia in June for the first time and it is now one of my favourites.
It is a very small island and the down side for me in June was the wind but it has plenty of sports equipment most included in the price-check the website, I only used kayaks and snorkelling but other people were sailing and kite surfing. The staff and food were great and I don't actually know if you will find anything similar that is better close enough to Suva to get there for the weekend.
There are a lot of expats and workers in Suva that getaway for the weekend and Leleuvia is geared for that market. For 1 weekend I probably wouldn't bother trying to go to Ovalau, not sure what the weather is like in November but it was windier, wetter and colder than Leleuvia when we were there in June.
