4 months in fiji...cheap accommodation

Hiya

We will be in Fiji for four months and wonder what sort of cheap long term accommodation we could get
it would be from oct to jan so are worried we wont find a long term appartment or bungalow because of dec holidays.

does anyone know what sort of monthly rental we would pay...looking for budget to lower midrange.
would consider paying 4 months upfront if it would ensure a cheaper deal.

Where in Fiji will you be? In Suva there are quite a few monthly apartment rentals. But I doubt you'd want to be in Suva for four months on holiday... There may be similar places in Nadi. Private rentals are also possible along the coral coast but I'm not sure how budget they would be.

If you have no definite plan, I'd pick Suva, as it's easy to get to a rental house, and easy to get to the outer islands east from there, But if you are booking by e-mail, try to book for a month only at first. Then you can check out other places to stay in Suva, and you'll hear of other opportunities on other islands as well.

The other option is to just show up and stay at a cheap hostel, etc. for a week or so, and scout things out once you are there. There are some nicer houses up the hill behind town. I'd book through a rental agent to make sure it all goes smoothly.

As #1 said, a lot depends on where you actually want to be most of the time.
