4 nights in Fiji - what to do?!Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji
Hello fellow travellers, we are a couple from Austria travelling to Fiji as part of our world trip. Unfortunately we don't have very much time there - we arrive in Nadi on Jan. 8 in the late afternoon (6 pm) and leave again from there on Jan. 12 in the morning (9 pm). This leaves us only three full days for beautiful Fiji. Do you have any recommendations for us on where to go, concerning islands, accomodation? We have no clue concerning the transfer between the islands, so maybe you could help us out there with some information. From what we have read in this forum so far and have heard from friends, we were thinking about travelling from Nadi to the Mamanucas - spending some time on Beachcomber Island and Bounty island... Is there a chance we could still make it there at the same day as our flight on the 8th? Thanks already in advance for your help!! We're open for any recommendations :) Pia & Bernd
With those flights, you will have to stay in Nadi for your first and last nights. Depending on your budget and what sort of crowd/atmosphere you're looking for, you could go as far Octopus, where you'd have the equivalent of 2.5 full days on the island. Awesome Adventures / South Sea Cruises are the same company and the only real option for island transfers. You'll have to email them to get the prices for one-way transfers between resorts, as their website only shows their island-hopping passes. | 1
Hey, thanks for your reply and for the suggestion about going to Octopus, sounds really good. We also checked out the homepage of South Sea Cruises and there you can check one way routes, too, when clicking on "Resort Connection Bookings". It doesn't seem to have a direct connection to Octopus though, but i'm sure we could get there by stopping over somewhere. | 2
South Sea Cruises service the Mamanucas, whereas Awesome Adventures service the Yasawas (where Octopus is), so you can get a direct connection with Awesome Adventures. Octopus also runs their boat twice a day, but it's a small boat that's not too fun in rough seas. Taking AA's Yasawa Flyer will be the cheapest and most comfortable and most reliable option. | 3
Arriving late likely means staying in Nadi the first night, try Raffles which is literally across the road from the airport but not noisy if you ask for a quiet room, its fine and has a nice restaurant area and pool. Or you could make more expensive arrangements to get out to Beachcomber by private transfer that night if it's available so ask directly, which will probably be about FJ$200 which may be worth it considering the price of 2 tix on the Yasawa flyer the next morning (from memory you get to Beachcomber at abour 10.00ish and Octopus around 11.30am). Octopus may be a bit far to go and then comeback (and youd need to overnight in Nadi so blow more time) from where I know Beachcomber can likely arrange a return boat at about 5 or 6 am (again as an 'off-schedule private transfer). I probably just rec one island rather than 2 to save checking out and blowing time transferring and re settling in with the time you've got. Enjoy! Edited by: ThurstonHowell4th | 4
As the other poster said, forget Beachcomber. Tiny party island which you can walk around in 15 mins. With just 2.5 days you need to stay close to the mainland. | 5
