4 nights in Fiji

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Hi everyone

Ok, we are on a backpackers budget holiday to Fiji this summer part of a round the world trip. Unfortunately flights have been rearranged by our booking company which means we only have 4 nights in Fiji, arriving and departing nadi. Our plan so far is to take the boat immediately to mana island and spend 4 nights there and take our flight out on the 5th night in nadi.

Is this the right island to choose ? Would anyone reccomend a different course of action, like exploring the main island or would youncisitbanother another island.

Thanks

If costs are an issue, and beach a priority, Mana is definitely the right choice.
It is certainly the cheapest offshore island to stay on near Nadi.

If you prefer to be more active, and like to explore and see "sights", the main island of Viti Levu is much more rewarding, and also cheap.
You could go right around it by bus in 4 days, with an overnight stop in Sigatoka and 1 or 2 in Suva.
I, personally, would opt for the latter.

Without any idea what you have budgeted-- check out WayalailaiResort.com
If the cost of getting to the offshore islands is too prohibitive, you might consider the Volivoli Resort (Volivoli.com)off
Viti Levu's north shore- a 3-hour bus ride from Nadi

A super-budget option on the Coral Coast of Viti Levu is the backpacker haven of the Fiji Beach House near
Korolevu. FijiBeachouse.com You'd need only take a bus from Nadi to arrive here. Great beaches.

Thanks guys...sticking with the original plan in mana...we only have 6 days and with a huge road trip in the states I wouldn't mind a bit of mana !!
