7 day itinerary - what do you think

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Hi,
I’m planning a quick stay to Fiji on my way to NZ.
Flight arrives early morning and staying only 7 days.
After researching, I would love your comments love your comments. I don’t dive, nor surf (but might be convinced otherwise). I’m more into hiking, kayaking, and learning about the culture of areas I visit.
Day 1: early arrival in Nadi. Travel to Beachhouse
Day 2 : Beachhouse
Day 3 : Beachhouse + bus end of day to return to Nadi.
Day 4: Morning shuttle to Octopus resort
Day 5: Octopos resort
Day 6: Octopus resort + afternoon shuttle + night near airport.
Day 7 : Flight to NZ
My concern is, am I wasting too much time just moving around?
What are the chances of ferry returning not running?
thanks,
C.

If it were me, I'd spend the entire time in the Yasawas. You could do 2-3 places (Octopus is a good choice). I went to the Beachhouse at the end of my trip and wish I had just stayed in the Yasawas longer.

For hiking, Wayalailai and Nacula are some decent islands where you can get up high with good views. At Octopus it was the case that you needed to get permission to go hiking.

Depends on the time of year, but generally speaking there's low risk of the Yasawa Flyer not running. Moderate risk of Octopus' own smaller boat not running.

Hi,
just wanted to let you know that Octopus is a great choice! Spent a couple of days there in 2012 and couldn't have been better :-) On Viti Levu for hiking try out Korojanitu National Park near Abaca, I really liked it there and had a great day tour, including a swim in some natural pools.
Enjoy!

Thanks for you answers. I finally decided to head out to Octopus Resort straight from the airport for three nights. Then moving on to Oarsman's bay Lodge on Nacula for 2 nights. Returning to Nadi for a final day (Sunday).

Baluetransalp, did you go to the Korojanitu on your own or were you forced to joined a tour. I was thinking of maybe renting a mountain bike with Stinger Bicycles to discover the area. Has anyone done this? Comments?

great you are going to Octopus, you will not regret it :-)
To Korojanitu I actually went with a local I knew (by car as far as a little cottage where groups sometimes stay overnight), I think you will be able to go on your own as well. Roads are quite bumpy so make sure your bike is in a good condition! Otherwise try to find an agency to do a private tour (no idea about the cost though), it was great to have lunch in a very small place sitting on the floor and getting fresly cooked local stuff. Yummi that was!
