A little advice...Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji
I am heading out to the Yasawas tomorrow. I fly into Nadi in the morning and I was thinking about just catching a cab to the Yasawa Flyer and heading out. How hard is it to get just show up and get a space on the boat or on any of the resorts? I have thought about oarsman and octopus but I have no idea if I can just show up and just book in. I want to do some diving and snorkeling while I am there. Any suggestions on the islands or resorts that I should not miss or are most about the same? I have a guide book and the Fiji Chapter of LP but it all sounds pretty good. I am sorry if I sound a little underprepared but I just bought a ticket last week and this is one of those seat of the pants type of trips. Thanks for any info. I think my plane leaves in 10 hours. :)
Cutting it a little close. I have not been to the Yasawas in about four years, but I believe you can catch a bus at the airport and go straight to the flyer. Might be good idea to contact them online for a reservation. | 1
Firstly see this post from a couple of weeks ago http://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/message.jspa?messageID=16047811#16047811 Just turning up at the Flyer will most probably be ok, especially now as it is out of school/uni holidays for Australia and NZ.You can book accom for almost any resort in the yasawas on board the Flyer Finally, dont even think of taking the bus from the airport given the lack of any bookings. Take a cab - cost of around FJD$20 or 25 | 2
Hi this is Stephane from Awesome Adventure. It is very unlikely that the Flyer will be fully booked when you turn up. It has a capacity of 267 passengers. However regarding the resorts, I would suggest to book in advance. You don t want to get there and find out everything is fully booked. If you are looking to do some diving and snorkelling, the following Islands are personally what I would choose: Have a brilliant time Stephane | 3
