About Kadavu

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Hi there,

I am trying to organize a short trip that will include Tonga and Fiji bet June/July. It´s been complicated to arrange flights, because in Tonga they don´operate on sundays and it seems the flights are complicated during the week as well. So, now, i think if i rush a bit I still have 5 days to enjoy in an island. I researched a bit and it seems Kadavu is a great place. I have a few questions and i'd like your advice...

1 - since i can´t get in touch with Air Pacific (they won't answer any of my emails, and in my country there is no office)... does anyone know if it´s okay to get at the airport and buy a ticket to fly on sequence? Is it a problem? Would it be much more expensive than buying ahead?

2- Do you know if they sell some sort of airpass that i can include both kadavu and tonga (from Nadi)?

3 - In Kadavu, if i have 5 days in total (and considering it takes a long time between airstrip and beaches) i'd have only 3 days for diving, should I choose somewhere close to the Astrolabe or Nagigia? What do you say about the diving there????

4 - Is there somewhere else as scenic and with great diving (and a bit cheaper) than Kadavu I should research for?

Guys, thanks in advance for the info! :-)

we took air pacific when we went to fiji. your problems can be due to air pacific's seasonal airline availability in which they lease their two 747s from sinagpore airlines. always buy your tickets ahead of time (>3weeks advance). if they do not answer their phone or email, this could be that they are currenty not in service at your nearest airport. I would try to book air new zealand instead as their flight are more extensive and flying into tonga....from tonga, there are flight into suva or nadi, fiji. the bula air pass from air pacific is only within fiji.

Thanks a lot!!! The problem is that i am using air miles and i can go to fiji, but apparently not to Tonga! Anyway, I will try to see that option too! Thanks a lot!

Forget Tonga and stick with Fiji-much less hassles in terms of transportation flying in Tonga is at best an adventure at worst nothing short of a nightmare.

A flight to Kadavu should be easy enough to book on arrival-ask where you're staying about the current situation.
