Accommodation recommendations in TaveuniCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji
My girl friend and I are looking for clean and cheap accommodation in Tavenui for 4 days. mostly we want to hike and snorkel while there. Does anyone have some recommendations out there???? thanks
The guest house in Lavena (on the NE coast) is certainly cheap, and well located for hiking. | 1
Lavena is the place for hiking but, as said, not really a place for snorkelling. The guesthouse is basic. It has a kitchen you can use. Village women will also prepare an evening meal if you ask. Perhaps spend some of your time time in Matei. I didn't snorkel there myself, but there are a lot of resorts so I assume there must be something worthwhile. Resorts arrange day-trips to Bouma, etc., but this is not easy to do on your own with public transport. For budget level in Matei, consider Lisi's homestay, west end of town. | 2
Bibi's is good. | 3 | |
i agree with above- bibi's is great. they upgraded me and my boyfriend in november to the big house just because there was no one else there. pick your own fruit fro free too! and, we also visited lavena lodge - also highly recommended because its so cheap - neat and clean too (though no mossie nets!). the main thing is its the only accomodation around that region (other than a resort on qamea i think - $$$$$). We ended up doing two nights at bibi's, then they looked after our big bags while we spent a night at lavena to do the coastal walk & marine park then one night back at bib's before we left. all fantasic. oh and the marine park has fantasic snorkelling! - the best we saw by far. and a great project to support. =) | 4
