Accomodation in FijiCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji
Hi All I,m looking for some advice or sugestions on accomodation from people who have recently been. Also if anyone has any suggestions on which islands to visit. Any info suggestions or advice willl be greatly appreciated Thank you and kind regards
If you just want overnight accommodation in Nadi try the Kontiki Private Hotel near the airport. Not a bad little place, has a swimming pool, room have private bathrooms and it is not at all expensive. Check it out on Trip Advisor, because I stayed there in 2002 so prices are more than likely higher now. I paid $20 F for a comfortable single. | 1
Tanoa Skylodge has nice rooms with own bathroom, (we booked a "superior" room), a lovely pool and pleasant garden setting, and the dining room has reasonable prices for good food. They offer free transfers to and from airport. The Yasawa Flyer bus will pick you up from there and take you to Port Denerau to catch the boat to your chosen island(s). Blue Lagoon resort on Nacula Island is very nice, good snorkelling and sheltered water, as is Oarsman's Bay right next door. There are heaps to choose from, but you need to book your accom. because you can't take the boat to the islands unless you have accom. booked. | 2
You can also try Octopus Resort on Waya Island - we got a recommendation from Thorntree before we went and it was fantastic. I've recommended it to several other friends who have all been and they've all loved it too. The same people who own Octopus own Blue Lagoon resort further north. Both are good. Octopus has a few different levels of accomodation so you can ask for something cheaper.. Have fun! | 3
Budget accommodation among the islands is very rare, however check out the Blue Lagoon Beach resort in the Yasawa Islands. Their cheapest option is the dormitory accomodation, single beds in a unisex room and shared bathrooms. | 4
Wow, it seems like Blue Lagoon and Octopus keep getting mentioned in all these posts...surely, there's more to choose from in Fiji than 2 resorts me hopes? $100 AUS is a lot to pay for a room without a bathroom compared to other backpacker hostels. | 5
Shame they both have 'compulsory food' as well that you have to pay 3x the price of the actual accomodation for. | 6
Re: 'compulsory food' The alternative would be granola bars you bring, bumming off the locals or the occasional crab you pick up off the beach. There are no grocery stores. | 7
