any night life in pacific harbour

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Myself and 3 friends under 40 have 10 nights accommodation at palm springs, deuba, pacific harbour.

Can anyone suggest any nightlife within a $20 cab ride?

Can't do too much of lying around on beaches during the day. Are there any adrenalin rush activities organised around that area?

What is the shopping like near there?

How long and how much does it cost to get to Suva? Is a day trip out of the question?

Many thanks

Madelyn

I don't know about night life in the Pacific Harbour area one of the local dive companies runs day trips out to Yanuca Island in the Bequa Lagoon, for a gently adrenalin rush is has some of the best snorkelling I have ever seen. Two bays to the right (when looking out to sea, the dive bys will know) of the small surf resort called Batuleva. You can walk in off the tiny beach and immediately be in incredible coral. Batuleva is a pretty cool place (nice food, cold beer) where serious surfers stay when they want to surf the world-famous Frigate's Reef, 6 miles away.

I think you could do a day trip to Suva from Pacific Harbor, have a look at some bus or coach timetables.

Catch the local bus into Suva, busiest day is Saturday, and catch the market at the main bus stop

Suva is a very busy city, can seem crowded and overwhelming. There are a number of reasonable bars and nightclubs, and generally people are friendly. We used to hang out at O Reilly's and Bad Dog cafe (we being British merchant navy types). Enquire there about where there might be live music.

Plan to take a taxi home together at the end of the evening. During the day, you should be able to find a taxi driver and negotiate a fixed rate to get you home and have him pick you up at a given time.

On Sunday, Suva goes all quiet as most shops are closed.
