Anyone know about the surf resorts at Waidroka and Yanuka?

Heading to Fiji in 2nd half of August with my girlfriend and wandering if:
a) these resorts are too "surfy" for a girlfriend who doesn't surf
b) you can book them when you get there or need to book in advance
c) if anyone's had positive/negative experiences there

Also, any other advice on places to stay to access some surfing (while offering snorkle and scuba for my girlfriend) would be greatly appreciated.

If by Yanuka you mean "Yanuca", I dont recall any surfing there.

Yanuca is a small island entirely filled by the Fijian Shangri La Resort. beyond the reef it might be possible to surf but it is a fair way out and in my 3 stays there have never seen anyone surfing

Yanuca Nanuku in western beqa lagoon is propably what you mean. there are two "resort" there, fiji surf camp and batiluva, both offer spectacular surfing at frigat passage....

yanuca is fijian for island, nuku means sand or beach...

waidroka is on the mainland, not as "Islandy" as yanuca, it offers more tours and accesible activities, while yanuca is more island and beach, depends what the girl friend wants
