Aloha to all and thanks for reading my post- I will be traveling for month and a half and want to see how backpacker friendly it is and what the average cost is. I am a seasoned traveler so the basics is all i need . Beer will be my biggest expense. I will be surfing alot and snorkeling. What else is there to do? I like the laid back lifestyle. Also cost and is it easy to get boats to other islands? I wouldnt even mind crewing on a sailboat. Thanks for reading and all your information. Maybe our paths will cross , if not always aloha
Beer won't be your biggest expense. Beer is cheap. Accommodation, especially where there's snorkelling and surfing, not so much. | 1
Fiji is definitely backpacker friendly... Beer in local bars is about FJ$3, resorts about FJ$7... Backpacker dorm accommodation on the mainland & islands is about FJ$50 per night, however if staying on an island you will be looking at about FJ$100 boat transfer (price varies depending on island distance from mainland)... Obviously prices differ depending on the place, above are average prices... Most resorts offer free snorkelling, I've never seen resorts offer surfboards (only paddle boards), so if you want to surf you will likely need your own surfboard.... I live in Suva and can say that the Royal Suva Yatch Club has a corkboard that always has ads looking for people to join sailing crews (both short term & long term)... Enjoy your stay in Fiji!! | 2
