Backpacker in Fiji

Hey all, I'm a 23 year old male backpacking in Fiji at the end of a 2 and 1/2 month NZ, Australia, and Fiji South Asia trip. I'll be in Fiji the last 12 days and I want to know how much money to expect to budget. I also want to know what I should do and where I should stay. My friend did this trip and went island hopping with some kind of package. I have been told to get off the main island as soon as possible and start hitting up other islands, as there is just so much more to do and see. I want to have fun and be around others. I like partying a little, but seeing cool sights and experiencing great things are a much bigger part of my agenda. Any advice is greatly appreciated. I want to get an idea of the trip I should schedule even though 12 days isn't very much.

Maybe get a Yasawa Fleyer 7 day "Bula Pass" for $199 on which I think you can visit many islands in Yasawa Group then stay on the one you like the most for longer:) Im going to Fiji as well but at the moment checking out google earth photos to pick 'the best' island;) It just gives me an idea of each island from the air+some good shots of other travellers:)
