Hey I never been to Fiji before so I am looking to go backpacking in September for around 1 or 2 weeks. I just have a few questions if there is any one that can help answer: Where is the best places to go to? Is a week long enough to spend there to travel around? I will be looking at staying in backpackers and minding my dollars- so what would be a reasonable budget? I realise my questions are very vague but I am only looking into the idea at the moment so just trying to get a feel for it. Regards Kev
You can certainly enjoy some of the things Fiji has to offer in one week, and it will depend on how diverse your interests are and how much money you have to spend whether you will benefit from staying a second week. Do some google searches to see what Fiji is like and what some of the activities are and decide what suits you. Most accommodations show prices. Perhaps go to the library and read a Lonely Planet guide to Fiji. So far I haven't met anyone who wasn't enchanted by Fiji and its people, and didn't enjoy the history and culture and island beaches. | 1
when you arrive Nadi Bay Resort Hotel has beds in dorm rooms for $32FJD per person which is reasonable and nice dorms. The next day you can get the AwesomeAdventures bus to the port at Denerau early in the morning and get on the 8.30am Yasawa flyer to the Yasawa Islands. Which island to stay at depends what you want to do. Manta Ray and Coral View and blue lagoon beach resort seem to be popular. I recommend 1 week at one resort so you can really relax. You will find prices online. Alternatively, Southern Sea Ventures offer sea kayaking trips that include the cost of the ferry tickets, accommodation and food. Try and get out to an Island for a few days, near Nadi stay at Smugglers Cove right on the beach, go to the Coral Coast and stay at Beachouse, very nice and the bus stops right there. You might keep a light jacket handy for the bus, when we were there they keep the inside of the bus at 13c. | 3
