Best homestay in Taveuni

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Hi,

I am just coming back from Fiji and i have to say that Taveuni Island has been the best of my trip in Fiji. I first stay at Vanu lodge which is really peacefull and managed by such a sweet lady. Then i went to Bouma, where the waterfall is. I spent 5 days overthere staying with a Fijian family whose has made sure i had an amazing time.
This family is very keen on welcoming foreign people and i would be very selfish to keep their contacts for myself. Also as there is no lodge or hotel in Bouma it can be helpful to have a homestay contact.
Maria is a mother of 8 boys, but only 3 of them live in the house so there is a spare room for you. As a super nana she is a wonderful cook and like to feed you as much as your stomach can contain yummi food. She is a busy woman but always find some time to spend with you. If not she will offer you to come with her in her many activities.
Their house is situated at the waterfall office, just off the village (3 minutes walk).
Please feel free to contact her or to pop over:

Hi Carry,

There is a ferry that is going to Taveuni twice a week from Suva. Also there are ferry and smaller boats that are going to Taveuni from Vanua Levu.
Otherwise you can fly there, but it's less charming way of traveling ...
Once arrived on the Island if you wish to go to Bouma and stay with this so nice Fijien family, you only have to get in the bus that is going to Lavena and it will drop you off 2 hours later in front of the house. Ask to the people who are with you on the bus, they will tell you where you have to get off.

Hope you will go to this wonderful island to have an amazing time !
