Booze !!

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Hi everyone ive heard its very expensive to buy beer, spirits etc on the Islands in Fiji, so is it cheaper to buy this stuff at the duty free in New Zealand or is there opportunity to buy it in the duty free after landing in Nadi ?
Only 5 days before we leave for Australasia Whoop Whoop !!!
Thank for any replys

My favourite subject! Just buy your booze from the high street and not from bars, shop around and you will find a good price. Still, you should of course take the opportunity to grab some duty free. Some Corduba in a green coconut never fails to hit the spot!

Most backpacker resorts (there's an oxymoron) have reasonably priced beer, around F$4 to $5 for a bottle. But a bottle of duty free helps.

Haha, I was about to post this exact topic! General consensus definitely seems to be that a bottle of duty free can't hurt.

Anyone know if Canadian Club will be a possibility?

Fiji allows 2 liters of hard liquor in per person. I always buy at the duty free shop in Nadi for convenience, but I know it is cheaper in Los Angeles. Don't know about NZ or AU.

The cost at the duty free shop in Nadi is approximately 60% of the street value in Fiji.

Imported booze is very expensive in Fiji. (Johny Walker Red 1125ml F$145, Johny Walker Black 750ml F$145).
Local booze (both beer and spirits) from bottle shops is cheap. (Bounty OP dark rum 1L F$60, Beer 750ml F$3.40)
Bar prices vary lots.

Cheers,
