busses on Sunday + getting to Savusavu/TaveuniCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji
hello travellers, I'd like to land at Nadi airport on Saturday at about noon, and I'd like to get to Taveuni. I've heard that there should be a ferry on Sunday 3pm from Lautuka to Savusavu. Could spend some days around there before going to Taveuni (but I could also go there straight away if there was any ferry....). Do you know if there's any cheap bus going from Nadi to Lautuka Sunday morning? If not, are there Saturday afternoon busses? Do you know anything about ferry/boat schedules to Taveuni (from Savusavu or bus +boat)? The only ferry company which I found states on their website that the boat is not operating until further notice.... Or can you advice me on any other way to Taveuni/Savusavu except for flying, where you know about the schedule? I'd like to avoid Suva if possible. Thanks a lot. J.
there are sure to be buses from Nadi to Lautoka on Sunday morning, the Suva to Lautoka coaches are near the end of their journey so will be later, but there are local buses that do the run. a taxi may be easier and not very expensive, just check the price they are quoting before you get in, as sometimes they don't turn on the meter and ask an unreasonable price. if you have to go via Suva you could stop off at somewhere like the Beach house to fill in the time before the Ferry. | 1
Yes, there are local busses that will take you to Lautoka on Sunday. Sea Breeze Hotel (budget) is 100M from the bus station in Lautoka. They have a web site. We lived next door for 2 years. Cheers, | 2
A lot of busses go there. I have seen them. Should be no problem at all | 3
You will have to do more checking on that ferry. I've just come back, and the locals told me the ferry is no longer running that route - would be good if that information was wrong, as I did the trip in reverse some years back and it was a great experience. | 4
excellent advice. thank you soooo much. | 5
there is an advert in the Fiji paper today that the Lomaiviti Princess is in dry dock in PNG until mid Nov, so that will change a lot of peoples plans | 6
