Cheapest way to island hop

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Hi
We're heading for Fiji at the beginning of November and want to spend a couple of weeks on the islands (the North West ones off the mainland), but aren't sure which way to do it?
We have priced up the Accomodation pass and the Bula pass but they both seem quite expensive. (accomodation pass gets guaranteed room at each island for about 75Fiji$ per person per night for a double) (The Bula pass gets us unlimited travel between the islands for about $450 for 2 weeks per person)

Is it cheaper to find accomodation on the islands when we arrive - this is what we are used to from travelling Asia etc?

Does the Bula pass seem worth it if we are probably going to only hop between 3 or 4 islands?

Any advice the best way to tackle the islands is appreciated...

Thanks

Since no one answered---I'd just pick a place near Nadi for the first couple of nights, and take it from there. If places in the Yasawas/Mamanucas are near-empty you'll get a great rate.
