customs in fiji

we are traveling to Fiji in several weeks. First we have a 4 hour stopover in New Zealand Will we have to go thorough customs in New Zealand and FIJI? What can we expect in customs?

If you clear immigration in NZ you will go through customs there.
You will certainly go through customs in Fiji.
I don't understand the question ''What can we expect in Customs''.
If you comply with the import restrictions of the country, you can expect a rapid clearance.
If you don't, who knows what the result may be.

Be especially careful to declare anything edible you are carrying.

New Zealand's customs procedures are a lot stricter than Fiji's. For example, NZ are interested in whether your footwear has soil on it from outside the country and exactly what food and drink you're bringing in. Fiji didn't seem that bothered. So, if you have to leave the airport in NZ, and not just stay in the transit area, make sure you have clean shoes...
