Denarau Island - cheaper accom???

Hi,
I have to attend a wedding in early August held at the Sofitel Denarau Island. Can anyone advise of alternative accom that is cheaper than the 4-5star resorts that seem to be in that area? Just needs to be safe, clean and close by.

Al the places on Denerau are upper end - 4 or 5 star. Exception is the Golf Terraces - prob 3.5 star.That said, if you are not going during school holidays, bargains can be found. I see that Sofitel can be had for $138pn on www.wotif.com right now. Try Wotif nearer the date.

Cheaper option is to stay in or near Nadi = 15 min by cab

this place is good but it will cost you $15.00 fijian dollars to taxi to denerau as it is about 10 to 15 mins drive to denerau

There are several nice mid-range places in the Nadi airport area that are a relatively short bus or taxi to Denerau (which is completely void of Fiji culture, BTW).

Ive stayed at Raffles. The rooms are clean but very plain, the rest of the place is lovely and right opposite airport

Are you just going to the wedding then returning home? or are you spending some time in Fiji and want to see some things?
