Diving Fiji in May

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Hi All. I dived in Fiji in June 2007 and it was wonderful. Thinking of going back to do some more mid-May this year (14-20 May). Would likely be diving off the north coast of Viti Levu.

Would be grateful for some advice on the weather and whether it is still likely to be fine diving that close to tropical cyclone season (which allegedly finishes at the end of April).

Cheers all.

weather the last six month (our cyclon season) was very calm, sunny, with less than average rains, only big rain was mid jan when some towns got flooded, but those floods can happen any time of the year, they come quick and go quick.....
weather in may can be anything, winds tend to be more continous from the south east, so its not as humid as in summer.
anyway go dont wory about the weather, most time of the year its great...
us locals here hate only july and august it can be chilly and have long periods of sprayrain...

I dived in Fiji a week ago and weather was hit and miss so the diving wasnt "great". I did 3 dives in the Coral Coast and 6 dives near Treasure Island. The best vis I had was about 15 metres but the average was 10 so it wasnt very clear.
