Driving Viti Levu Interior Roads?Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji
Hi...I have lots of questions! I'm looking for information on driving through the interior on Viti Levu. I will be there in September next year. I understand that driving on unsealed (paved) roads can be completely weather dependent, so lets just assume the weather will be cooperating. What I'm looking for is more detailed information regarding the condition of the roads as I'm unable to find any reliable information from google maps or other websites. The route I'm considering is as follows: Most of the route is on the Queen's and King's roads. However, the section from Ba to Sigatoka I can't tell if it is sealed or not. If not sealed, how well maintained are the roads? How much vehicle clearance is needed to pass the road? Basically, what I'm wanting to accomplish with this trip is getting off the beaten tourist path and drive around the majority of the island. So maybe someone can help me out with this route, or maybe recommend a better route. I plan to stay only on the coasts with only day stops in the interior. Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Getting very far off the Queens and Kings roads needs good ground clearance (= 4WD) and cooperative weather. Cheers, | 1
