| gemgemee04:14 UTC06 Mar 2007 | Dear all,
I need help with my week in Fiji in June. I've done some research and read some of the FAQs and came up with the following itinerary for my week:
Day 1: Flight arrival at 10:10am. Since it's too late to go Yasawa by then, just go to Mamanuca straight from the Nadi airport (is this possible? how long would it take? what kind of transportation? best place to stay for one night (private beachfront bure, good snorkelling site with option to dive, and costs less than $50 USD per night)?
Day 2: What is the best way to go to Yasawa Islands from Mamanuca? Take the early morning Yasawa Flyer to Yasawa Islands or something else? Any accomodation recommendation (again, private beachfront bure, a good dive site and an experienced dive master is a requirement here, and again, costs less than $50 USD per night)?
Day 3: Stay in Yasawa Islands. Hike, Dive...??? oh, there are many small islands and can I do island hopping? maybe do the hopping combined with dive/hike? know of any good tour company or resort who offer this kind of trip?
Day 4: Check-out and go back to the main island, Viti Levu, and go to Coral Coast. What is the best transportation method here and how long would it take? Once again, accomodation recommendation? How is diving in Coral Coast? Should I try to squeeze that in?
Day 5: Leave Coral Coast and go to Suva. Best way to get there? travel time? Then, take a quick (2-3 hours) look at the city. Is there a tour I can do? Then go to Ovalau Island and just relax. What's good here? It seems like a lot of people on this forum recommend it, and that's the only reason I added this island. Should I take it out? and Maybe spend an extra day in coral coast? I like to experience some Fijian culture and food, which I don't think I'll get from the west islands or the coral coast.
Day 6: Plan is to go back to Nadi by late afternoon/early evening. When should I leave Ovalau island and what is the best way to go back to Nadi?
Day 7: Nadi, maybe some sort of a day tour... then fly out at night.
With that outline.... what do you think? Is it possible to do all that as I've outlined? or just rediculously too much? I need to constantly do something - hike, snorkel, dive, see something, do something. I can do maybe about two hours of doing nothing on the beach, but I get bored afterwards.
I'd really greatly truly apprciate comments on my rough intinerary and it'd be even better if you can fill in the holes or fix whatever that needs to be fixed.
THANK YOU!!!

With your plan covers several hundred kilometers - you will have to take busses and ferries. Transport takes time, the bus from Nadi to Suva takes 3.5 to 4 hrs. And ferries are slow!
You cannot just "sqeeze" in a dive, most often you are busy 3/4 of a day.
Going to Ovalau takes you 1/2 a day unless you fly, the Island itself is about 60 km in circumference, and you won't experience that what is good on that Island ( it's Fiji's Old Capital, very unique and has it's special charme) in a couple of hours.
My best advice: calm down, reconsider and pick priorities, go into one direction (if you have only 7 days) and not all over the place.
Don't forget - Fiji is on Fiji Time!

| gemgemee10:03 UTC06 Mar 2007 | So, I guess I'll leave out the east part - Suva & Ovalau. How about staying in Yasawa for another day until the morning of day 5? Then, go to the Coral Coast and stay there for two days and one night? How long does it take to get to the Coral Coast from Yasawa? and how long does it take to get back to Nadi from the Coral Coast? Thanks.

Cheers Ian

| shully21:26 UTC08 Mar 2007 | I agree with rager! I'd stay as far away from the Coral Coast as possible. The beaches aren't what you might imagine...no azure blue waters there! And who needs a tour of Nadi? Park yourself on the yasawa's and enjoy AND RELAX! Trust us...
sunny regards, shully
