After many years thinking about it, and countless visits, I am finally making that move to Fiji. I leave tomorrow ( Monday) and will look for a place in Lautoka. The English rain can fall on someone else.

Congratulations! I hope you'll post here or start a blog about what it's like moving to and establishing a home on a Pacific island.

Congratulations! It's always good to do whatever your gut tells you to do!

You probably know this, but there are some topics you might want to avoid in conversations: the usual pair of religion and politics, and in Fiji, land matters and race issues.

You probably won't get much rain in Lautoka until maybe Nov. but when it rains---well, you might wish you were back in England for those couple of hours!

Are you working, or just touring around from there?

Please let us know the good, bad and ugly as things proceed, it will be very interesting to those of us that have lived in the SP, and probably even more so to all who have dreamed of doing so!

Thanks for all your good wishes. I have been here a week now and have already turned a healthy shade of red.

All the best. I like Lautoka. Had some good curries there.

I'm considering this move now. If I do it won't be for about another year. I'm a kiwi. Please let me/us know your experiences etc. Cheers.
