Family Holiday - Where to stay?

We are looking to go to Fiji next year with some friends and their children.

There will be 4 couples and 10 kids, ranging in age from 4 to 12.

I am after some suggestions for suitable places to stay, where there will be lots of things to keep the kids occupied. Someone has suggested the Warwick and said that they offer all inclusive packages (including alchohol)

Also, what is the best time of the year to travel to fiji.

Would suggest Plantation Island Resort for a family.
Its reasonably priced and has a range of accommodation options.
Kid's club is good and it has a separate kids restaurant.
Any time is a good time to go to Fiji.

you can consider Fiji Beach Resort, Hilton, Jean-Michel Cousteau Fiji Island Resort, Castaway, Mana or Musket Cove. all those are popular family Fijian resort.

If you are looking for a self-catering option and don't mind somewhere fairly basic, there is also Tubakula Beach Bungalows on the Coral Coast (main island). This would be a good "budget" option but you wouldn't get things like kids club or room service etc so if those things are important, then the properties mentioned above would be more suitable.

I agree with smandkj about Plantation Island Resort. Been twice and am saving madly for a third visit. Meal deals area good option to "all inclusive" and you can use the vouchers in 2 off-site restaurants.Kids under 15 are about half price and those under a certain age may even eat for free. Beautiful location, lovely staff and very comfortable accommodation.
We looked at Castaway but the 2 bedroom Garden bure at Plantation was more attractive for us as a family as it had a proper separate main bedroom, and no one had to walk through your room to get to the bathroom.
Check Lonely Planet's "Destinations" for when to go. Given the age of your kids you may be limited to school holidays. Summer is too hot and potentially too wet (this advice from a friend who lives in Suva). We've been at Easter and it's still hot, but the sea breeze and crystal clear water make it quite bearable.
But I'm biased ('cause I love Fiji) and think anytime would be good.

After being to Kadavu Island for quite some time now I recommend going there for your big extended family holiday. Very much off the beaten track and wild for children of all ages. The sheer adventure spirit which Kadavu offers would certainly cause you all to have a wonderful time to remember forever. My favorite place on Kadavu is Waisalima Beach Resort. Send them an email or check out their web site first. Laid back fmaily atmosphere where pretty much your group will book the entire resort at once. Even better for you then it would be your private place to share with only the locals and staff. Fantastic you wouldnt even feel like a tourist.
